So far not too bad. As of last check Aldazar is responding well and doing ok. He still had to get kidney function tests, though. The suck-ass part, however, is that just this will cost from $360 - $452 or so, and if he gets through this ok we still have to put him through surgery.

In other news I have new clothes and the GTA VC soundtracks. And David is deserting me Saturday. Something about finally getting laid.....

The Latest

:: Chokeslammed; The Phoenix Has Risen :: 10:37:00 PM

I need advice. My first cat, Aldazar, is (still) sick. At the least he has bladder type problems, which requires surgery and care, costing a grand or so. And for all I know he has other problems. Tomorrow, I take him to the vet for a checkup to find out the totality of his problems and how much it will cost.

Now he is about 5 years old. not necessarily old for a cat but not young either. Near middle age. My consideration is......

Should I suck it up and put him down?

He is my first cat. He has the best temperment I've ever seen. Likes almost everyone, even deals with the dogs. Hell, he's even hunted down a few mice in his time. He's trim and evenly colored, down to the goatee black stripe on his chin. I do love him. But is it worth it to put him through the surgery he needs? And what if he needs even more than that? Is it worthwhile to spend that money with age starting to creep up on him?

I have to admit I am torn here. I don't want to lose him but I don't think it's the best idea to keep him going, either. All opinions are wanted. Thanks.

You may notice that any and all previous comments are gone. I have switched comment "providers" away from YAACS since they do nothing but go down all the time. OB 101 still uses them, but C & G has moved on to HALOScan.

Entertain the Brutes

Monday Afternoon Edition

Well well. We begin the week of the Grand Theft Auto. As we do so, we look back on those games that have inspired this gamer to go to new heights of time-wasting in playing hours upon days of glorious slaughter.

Wrestling games have always been my greatest vice. I needed to own the newest and the best in them, though I refused to purchase any WCW, ECW, or "Fire Pro" type of games. Only the WWF/WWE could quench my thirst for becoming a spandex-wearing ass-kicking freak of nature. I had many of the old school games for Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo, but left cartriges in the dust for the Playstation and WarZone, to be followed by Attitude. But nothing beat the beginnings of a franchise called Smackdown. Though there were a few other games for the PS before this, this was the first to have the graphical capabilities of the PS used to full advantage. The biggest problem I had was the limited save spots for created wrestlers, which at the time was just 4 spots. I ended up re-buying Attitude for that reason until SD: Know Your Role was released. As time has gone by I have consistently traded in my older wrestling titles for the newer ones. Like any other fan, I am looking for the best combanation of graphics, sound, and gameplay. Up-to-date rosters, current ringwear, themes, and titantrons, tons of options to create your own grappler, and true-to-life match types are all very important in a succesful title.

One would think XBox would have the advantage on WWE titles considering all they have to work with. The best processor, sound card, and graphics card out there plus a hard drive gives Microsoft a major advantage. Though RAW had it's good points, such as amazing wrestler lookalikes, and the ability to watch titantrons full-screen without playing the game, it fell short with create-a-wrestler, no ability to update roster grapplers, and the ever-present "weapons don't do crap" problem. Hopefully they will use their brains with RAW 2 and correct these "oversights", as well as possiby add at least SOME XBox Live capability. The ability to download new music, titantrons, looks, and even new grapplers would be something that would seel more copies of RAW 2 and more subscriptions to the online service.

GameCube, on the flip-side, is VERY limited thanks to the fact that they use mini-discs. They have half the storage capacity of the other systems and no hard drive at all. Basically, they are screwed.

With games and DVD's galore coming out over the next 3 months that I consider must-haves, I will now have something to keep me occupied.

We appreciate your applying and the time you spent pursuing this postion." Which to me boils down to; "We're tired of you callin and bugging us. Bugger off!" In laymans terms.

Wednesday Morning Edition

Annurism time, people.

Got Santana's new album today; Shaman. It's actually pretty damned good. Latino Heat!! Also picked up the two newest DBZ tapes, as well as DBZ Movie 6, Return of Cooler. Even wentsofar as to get Beauty & the Beast on DVD for LF. It's good bribery for my TV, MUWAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!

David lovingly pre-ordered GTA: Vice City, along with a whole menage of other mass-murder type items. I added the massive soundtracks to that little bundle, ensuring that the first weekend of November and a few after that will be filled with glorius 80's fun! Of course Resident Evil 0 and WWE Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth will be tossed in as well, but Vice City will be the catalyst. Of course, beyond that I can't wait for DBZ Budokai to hit the PS2. Finally a DBZ 3D fighter.

Got a whole bunch of shit to do today. My room has been cleaned! And not the normal type of cleaning. No, this time the deck is being ripped up as all the shit that isn't mine is going away to give me ::gasp:: room! I may actually have a bed to sleep on! A closet! My Lord the possibilities.

Third Post, Trip

:: Chokeslammed; The Phoenix Has Risen :: 12:38:00 AM

Fuck the Brutes

Return Edition, Part 4

I guess with all this, I could actually post about my trip with Dad. I should state ahead of time I was talked into this trip thinking I could move down there as well as being told I would not be forced to meet family members.

Saturday morning. Left at 6:30 a.m. The drive took us around 12 hours, getting into North Carolina. A couple minor stops, and basic rain most of the way. Applebee's for dinner, and an overnight at a Comfort Inn.

Sunday morning. Left at 7:30. Straight through to Clearwater, Florida. Took about 11 hours. Monsoon rain the whole way. Stopped off at Long John Silvers 20 minutes from the condo. Got there, checked it out, put stuff away. He went to talk to a family member after asking me if I wanted to meet them now. I decided I liked the condo and would actually like living there.

Monday morning. Some more pushing to meet family. Dad brought me out to get a charger for my cellphone, since my car charger wouldn't work in his car. He picked up a fan light and we (mostly he) hooked it up. We stopped by Quiznos for lunch. Then we went back out for a new battery for his phone at the local mall. We went to see the house, and he decided to buy it. Unfortunately, it's right across the street from other family members and it was around 4:30, giving Dad the perfect opening to push harder about me meeting them. I said fine just to be nice and shut him up. So we stop over for dinner and say hi. They chat briefly about my reluctance to meet any of them. I manage to keep my mouth shut. We go home with Dad deciding to bring us over for breakfast the next morning, them he tosses me the fact that I have met one, I can't not meet the others. Sonofabitch. To add to this Dad gets to mention that one of his rules to whomever rents the condo will be no pets. Fucking prick.

Tuesday morning. So it's back to their house with BK for breakfast. I'm in a foul mood with being railroaded on this trip and it's going to get worse. He needs to shop for a mortgage today so I head to the mall. He ends up woth more work than when he started, so we will be staying longer than hoped. That nigh it's dinner with the rest of the family and the first "family" photo.

Wednesday morning. This will be a long day for him. He has twenty things to do and less time to do it in. Microwave pancakes for breakfast. He's in and out most of the day. At some point I was in the car and he went over to the original family place for dinner, without asking me first and thereby forcing it onto me. So I was noticibly upset the rest of the night.
Thursday morning. More work for Dad. I decided to venture back to the mall for a Game Boy Advance. It's the last night, as he finishes and we are headed out in the morning. Most of the family is meeting for dinner and another photo. My trip is wasted, my week is wasted.

Friday to Saturday. The trip back. Less rain, seemed to take a bit less time, more expensive stopover.

Summary. As I said, a waste of a trip and a week. For months now my father has been promoting the idea of me moving down to Florida with him and renting his condo as he will have the house. The main reason I would have gone was that I need to find a place to accept pets, both a dog and a cat. He knew this, yet continued to push me going. He also swears he will not force me to meet any family members, knowing full well I don't want to know them. So I pack up and go off to spend what was supposed to be 5 or 6 days of travel and new experiances as well as getting to see my possible new surroundings. Instead I get hosed. I get to see the condo and I am thrilled. Plenty of space, one floor, skylights, cable hookups in every room, mostly hardwood and tiles flooring, all sorts of closet room. I love it. I want to move. And then after all this buildup, I get the (inevitable) Keith Meehan shoottotheshitter. "No pets." What? WhatthefuckisthisIhear? You're shitting me. After all this you tell me no pets? Knowing full well I refuse to give up my animals? You asshole! You fucking asshole! But wait, there's more! As part of this re-introductory offer into how Dad refuse to truly be a decent person to his only son, we have added on the fact that you have to meet this new family that you want nothing to do with! That's right! An absurd amount of time with people you don't want to know is yours when you act now! Not as if you really have a choice! And to add to it all, we'll though in a drinking binge for you! He only drinks on the weekends these days, unless I'm around him. So I got lied to, decieved, guilt-tripped, and all-around bamboozled. I can't cut a break with my own father! Not one break! I won't even make out when he dies! I'll have to contend with his leech of a girlfriend. So far he has bailed her out (as in paid off) $10,000 (that's ten-thousand dollars) of her debt three separate times. That's 30-fucking-grand. And I had to beg to get him to put $1500 into my first vehicle so he could kick me out of the house a year later. I've seen drug-addicted punks with their brains in their ashtrays and a knife in their hand getting nicer parental treatment. Though I know it could be a hell of a lot worse.

Simply put, this week was a crapper. I lost out on a weeks worth of somewhat interesting stuff so I could get dragged back to the reality that no matter how it looks, Dad is never going to be nice.

Fuck the world. Fuck you all.

Fuck the Brutes

Return Edition, Part 3

Ooooooo. Baby name meanings. I popped both of LF's up on OB 101. Here's mine:

The name of Keith creates a very aggressive and independent nature, one with big ambitions, giving you original, progressive, large-scale ideas, salesmanship and promotional ability as well as the excellent business judgment which enables you to gain the financial accumulation to which you feel entitled. You have a versatile, restless nature, and could do any job well, although you would not like to do menial tasks. You are seldom satisfied and are always seeking something new. However, you do not know the meaning of relaxation, for when supposedly resting, your mind is forever active, planning out some new project or seeking new ways to improve your present enterprise. You could organize the work of others, though in your impatience to see the job done efficiently, you would likely step right in and do it yourself. Your intense, restless nature can bring on tension which affects the solar plexus and digestion, or the generative organs.

So now we add Madmonky. You see there are two showing. David and Dave. His actual name is David, but I get to call him Dave, since I am bigger than he is. Surprisingly enough, both meanings work.

Your first name of David has given you a very practical, hard-working, systematic nature. Your interests are focused on technical, mechanical, and scientific things, to the exclusion of interests of an artistic, musical, or social nature. You have a rather skeptical outlook on life and rather materialistic standards. In reaching your goals, you are very independent and resourceful, patient and determined. You can be so very positive and definite in your own ideas and opinions that others sense a lack of tact and friendliness in your manner of expression. You are inclined to be rather demanding and self-centred in your personal wants, and your own desires can be so overriding that you fail to recognize or appreciate the feelings, opinions, or desires of others. As a consequence, difficulties in relations within the family or with close associates can arise. Weaknesses in the health centre in the head, and in the stomach and intestinal organs.

The name of Dave creates a quick, analytical, and clever mind; you are creative, versatile, original, and independent. You have large ambitions, and it is difficult for you to be tolerant and understanding of those who desire less in life or who are more slow and methodical by nature. Patience is not your forte. You do, however, have leadership ability and would never be happy in a subservient position. You are ambitious and aggressive by nature. You would be happiest in positions where you are free to express individually and creatively and where opportunities are not restricted; you desire freedom, and do not tolerate being possessed by others. You appreciate change and travel, and the opportunity to meet and mix with others, and to influence them with your creative ideas. You are very self-confident and feel you can accomplish anything you set out to do, and you can, although, this name does not allow proper completion of undertakings, and forced changes cause financial losses and bitter experiences. This name also creates caustic expression and moods which prevent harmony and happiness in close association. When under strain, tension could affect the stomach and solar plexus. There is a tendency for you to worry.

Now Fredy. Sorry, they didn't have Mexicano-Gringo-Pussy.

The first name of Fredy creates a dual nature for, on the one hand, you desire change and varied experiences in order to avoid monotony, and yet you are attuned to system, order, and attention to detail. You can be very analytical, exacting, and patient in your undertakings until your interest is exhausted, at which time you switch to something else even though it means leaving your undertakings unfinished. This name makes you inquisitive and scientific in your approach to life, requiring everything to be proved to satisfy your skepticism. You can be a stickler for detail, and very fussy and particular. As spontaneous verbal expression can be difficult for you, you often feel awkward and embarrassed in situations requiring tact and diplomacy. This name creates strong physical desires, such as an appetite for heavy, starchy foods and meat. Tension affecting the solar plexus and digestive organs could lead to ulcers, growths, or constipation.

Sam has 3. Samuel, Sam, and Sammy.

Friday Morning Edition

It's been so lax around here these days. And it may be getting even worse. I have the opportunity to head down to Florida with my dad for a week. He is leaving Saturday morning to check out a house he may buy. He figures I'll get away from here, check out his condo down there, see the house and offer my insight, and possibly meet the family, which I doubt. I am considering the offer. My thing is I don't know if I would want to stay the whole week. Leave Saturday, get there Sunday (yes, driving), stay until Saturday or Sunday, be back Sunday or Monday. I'm considering just going on my own within that time frame. The only thing is stop-offs on the way. Hotel/Motel or rest stop? So much to consider by 7:30 tonight.

I called S-W this morning. The manager says he'll call me back later today.

I need to go to the mall. It's been awhile.

Wednesday Morning Edition

So much for David and his posting. But we have Sam sightings! And I am thrilled for that, at least.

It's really been more of the same nothingness around here. LF's working tons of extra hours, while I struggle to get a job. Well, I guess I shouldn't say struggle. It's not like I went to a supermarket and got turned away. I just won't go that low yet. Hell, I'm getting more through unemployment then I did working at any supermarket to date. I have to call back Sherwin-Williams, again. At this point I almost wish they would tell me no so at least I can take a lesser offer. So far nothing else I've come across has had the money ($11 ph), hours (40 pw), time-frame (M-Sat, 7-6), benefits (starting the first of the month after you start working), or even future prospects (most go from full-timers to AGM's within 2 years) that these guys offered right off the bat. It's been just over a week. I guess it won't be pushy of me to call them.

Meanwhile I clean my floor, brush the dog, and dream of cool stuff that costs too much money.

Anybody WWE fans? Did ya see RAW Monday? An excellent show, minus the bra and panties/paddle on a pole match, right up until the "Kane's a murderer" angle started to end the show.... Christ. Just when it looks like the WWE has got things figured out, they throw something stupid like this out.

Compile-tastic Edition

Well, I'll try and keep this brief. I've been writing a short paper for that last few days and reading The Institutes and so I'm quite ready to just spout out anything that has to do with any type of argument or debate. On the positive side, I don't think I've ever been quite this focused all semester. Anyway, as for the test, I'm a technologist. On a more entertaining note, I'm also a Lapis Lazuli rock!

What Stone Are You?

brought to you by Quizilla

Well, maybe it's not that interesting and this is just some quaint test that some one wrote up to entertain me. :-) For that I should at least be grateful. Anyway, time is running along and I really need to put down something for the lest few paragraphs of this little paper. I wish I could say something interesting about it. It summarizes three papers that some other people wrote on optimizing compiled code for embedded chips, like the one that is running your PDA or cell phone and the like. One group says that they want to compress the code, the other group wants to run the code at varying power levels to increase battery life, and the last group wants to just optimize the code really well and hope that power consuption is reduced. Neat stuff but very very boring. Not nearly so interesting as that rock! Look at how nice and BLUE it is! They didn't give me a chance to pick a red rock. I like red.

Then I took another quiz and this is what "Legendary Creature" I am.

You are a siren.

What legend are you?. Take the Legendary Being Quiz by Paradox

And this was the desciption associated with it.
Also known as mermaids, sirens were women with the tails of fish who lived in the ocean. They would lure sailors onto the rocks with their enchanting songs.

Monday Morning Edition

Well it's been a couple of days now but there isn't too much to report.

LF's mom had to go to the ER Saturday to get checked out when she had some kind of allergic reaction while at her job. Everything checked out OK and she was sent home, but it took over 2 hours to accomplish this. LF blocked out the night from BS by stating she needed to spend time with her mom since she had to work during all that, and her brother and I handled everything.

Sunday was more of the same old boringness. I attempted chatting with David twice and was promptly ignored both times, and an old favorite known as the "high ho" had contacted me again. Blocked her and moved on. LF had to go out and grab the paper, bread, and milk so she picked up breakfast, which my dog decided to eat part of. Jets fucking lost again.

Saturday Morning Edition

For the 3 in attendance, for the tens of people viewing this page, and for one seizure-prone complaint, Ladies and Gentlemen, llllllllllleeets get ready to ssSSUCK IIIIITTT!!"

For the record, that is the whole point. I am trying to kill everyone in the world by forcing them to see weird stuff on my site. And it's beginning to work!!

Aaaagh! Nothing from the great Binya in quite some time, and she comes back and rips on my D-X ani. That's not nice. I'm sad now. :-( .:sniff,sniff:. Goddamn it.

Ah what a night. The David stopped by to keep me company since I'm a pathetic and lonely bastard. I forced him to watch Street Smarts! HAHAHAH........

What to do now? Watch last nights Street Smarts (tape) and set up tape for Sat morning cartoons (Yu-Gi-Oh, X-Men Evolution), with a bit of gaming tossed in.

Well well. Isn't this special.

Yet again I have changed the header and the background. SS Goku doing Kamehameha in black and white.

I wish I could say that I had a bunch of new information to write out, but I really don't.

The next month and a half or so is all new games leading up to my birthday the 14th of next month. Got GTA: Vice City, then Resident Evil: Zero, then finally Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth. Add the TV/DVD/VCR combo, the remote, and the Survivor Series PPV at Madison Square Garden and there's a decent amount of stuff I want to spend my non-existant money on.

Today's Topic: Like Sands Through an Hourglass

:: Chokeslammed; Madmonky :: 12:09:00 PM

Like sands through an hourglass, these are the Days of our Blogs. So it seems that life is seeping back into this blog. That's great seeing as how I enjoyed having something to read every morning when I got into work. I've decided to not only continue to post (hopefully I'll almost always have something to post), but I've also decided to stick with the IO background.

Today's post is a rather interesting one. My company has undertaken a project to design a website for someone. This person has decided that after we create the webpage, he wants to be able to make the updates by himself. This means that he will have to learn HTML and that I will have to teach it to him. Of course I don't have the time to be teaching people HTML, so I have decided to instead create template webpages and just show him where to make the changes or how to add new pages. Either way, the problem is that although my company will still be receiving monthly payments (web hosting stuff), it will not be providing any support at all for the website (in terms of HTML programming errors.) If it so happens that something gets coded incorrectly and it ends up messing up the whole site, I will require a fee to fix these mistakes. A lot of you might say something like "Well, was he going to have to pay for web design support?" Well, the answer to that would be no. We would provided free HTML updates provided of course that the change was nothing major. However, if we did the updates and we messed something up, then we would know what we did and we would know how to fix it. If he makes the updates (by modifying the HTML code like he wants) and messes something up, they we will have to take time to find the mistake and then correct it. We won't have any copies or backups of any work he has done. Personally, I think that money wise for me it is a good thing, but for the client, I think it is a bad idea. I think that we should be the ones doing the updates. The concern my client has is that he feels that we won't have the time to make the changes that we wants. For example if he wants to add something at 3:00am. Obviously I'll be sleeping, and waiting until 7:30am is not good enough. But the customer is always right, and if that's what he wants, then that is what he gets.

Info Wanted.....

It seems as if BS has dropped himself off of Randomness in favor of hiding his posts from me. Pathetic. Any information leading to the finding of the blog he currently runs/posts on will be greatly appreciated.

Looky! It's all alive again! There's like, posting going on and stuff! David, Fredy, Sam, Linux, Linus, Snoopy, and whomever else is around......

So I have a new linoleum/tile floor for my feet and a new bed for the dog. Unfortunately he continues to sleep on my extra chair. Anyway. I can clean this floor with Swiffer!! Swiffer sweeper and the new Swiffer WetJet thing.

Day went simple enough. Put the PC back together, did some shopping, watched 40 Days and 40 Nights. Funny movie. Got in a nap then checked out Enterprise. Since then I have been up doing a whole lot of nothing.

Cheese Grommit...

So, in a cynical fit, Sam said to himself, "Self, lets see if this server hates us." So, Sam and his person set about writing this post to see if a post about not being able to post was able to be posted. Well, some good humor could be enjoyed by all and I could continue feeding the cynacism I so dearly want to crush if this goes through. :-) So, on to Post & Publish with this!!

What the hell!!.. I had sex (and I was not drunk) with the girl from Spain; Ole'!!

After 15 exciting days in Europe I'm back, (I hope they haven't fired me..)

Don't you use me as an excuse not to post. My posts have been quite short lately; Without a job to make fun of, I have limited topics. So keep posting. At least I want to hear about what's going on with you.

Fredy goddamn it! What's going on these days? Watching new Street Smarts? Revenge Week is fun!

Today's Topic (Rebuttal): Well Then!!

:: Chokeslammed; Madmonky :: 12:36:00 PM

Well then, I guess our fearless leader is still going to post on this site. Seeing as how he intends to continue posting, I guess my posts are pretty much useless. Unless of course you people want me to continue posting ... but I doubt that you do.

Keith leave poor Jason out of this blog. The kid is weird enough without being involved here.

On a side note, I have decided to sport a new background. It doesn't look to good with only a little bit of text, but next time I post something bigger, it will look better.

Wednesday Morning Edition

Thanks for theat, monky-boy, but I'll take it from here. The reason I haven't posted is that my PC has been offline as I, with the gracious help of LF and her mother, have re-done the floor of my room. The nasty, dirty, smelly, 20+ year old carpet is gone, and in it's place is marble-linoleum/tile. We have a new easy-clean floor people! The job is still up in the air as they are still interviewing yet will not tell me no yet. So for the time being I have claimed unemployment, which will get me a check though I hope it will only be for another week, Anyway, it's Wednesday, and I have shit to do.

Today's Topic: It's Pretty Bad

:: Chokeslammed; Madmonky :: 11:32:00 AM

Well, it's getting pretty bad on this blog site. It's one thing when blog members don't post, but it is something else when the owner of the blog site doesn't post anything. Now, I know that it has only been 3 days (not including today) since the last post, but still.

Well, since the blog owner isn't going to post anything, I guess I will start posting. Hopefully I will be able to post on a daily basis, but don't hold me to that. It's only 11:27am and already it has an interesting day. The phone has not stopped ringing and people keep calling me and I am unable to give them really answers. (Oh, by the way, I am a systems/network administrator and programmer for a living.) I know it sounds unfair for me not to give my users a direct truthful answer, but if I do, then they will just complain more and starting whining to the wrong people. Unfortunately (as good as I may be at my job) I come across a problem that I can't just easily solve. It takes to research the situation, determine the problem (if it really is a problem) and then if the solution is feasible, I have to implement it. Most people don't understand that most of the stuff that they want to do are major security holes and that they must be fully researched before be implemented. But like I said, they don't care, are impatient and they will complain to the wrong person.

Well, that's it from me for now. Hopefully I'll have more interesting stuff to say tomorrow, although I highly doubt it.
